Slow Flow. Berlin to Africa

Field project, from 9 October 2026.

An open enquiry into home, belonging and the ways we make room for one another.

I am on the road by bicycle, currently in the Leipzig region, moving through changing landscapes, ordinary days and the places where a journey becomes a meeting.

For fifteen years, I have made places where people meet. Slow Flow carries that practice onto the road, with one important change: this time I am the guest. I will travel slowly, ask for help and pay attention to how an unfamiliar place begins to feel close.

The journey will take shape through encounters, hospitality and practical support: a shared meal, a place to rest, equipment for the bicycle, time to listen. These exchanges are part of the enquiry. What do we offer one another, and what does it mean to receive?

The film, journal and Sunday letters will grow from these encounters and experiences of home and belonging shared from anywhere. These answers can question and extend my own. One question stays open: how does a sense of belonging emerge?

The route

A generalised working corridor, not a fixed turn by turn itinerary.
